Welcome to My Blog

Marbled Christmas Ornament

Hi! I know a lot of you saw my Instagram post about marbling an ornament. There were a decent amount of questions so I figured I would do a blog post about it!

First of all, I used DecoArt Acrylic Paint. I think it is very important to use a good acrylic paint so it adhears to the ornament better! I used the colors Sapphire Extreme, Pink Tourmaline, and Peacock Pearl. They are metallic so it provided a nice shimmer. I also used a White and a Pouring Medium (to help make the thicker acrylic become more fluid.)

Other Materials Used:

Tombow USA Mono Twin Permanent Marker

Clear Glass Ornament (I used plastic but glass is way better as it will hold the acrylic better and dry faster)

(Here is a link for some plastic ones if you decide to go that route.)

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you have to drain any excess paint or will it just dry over time? Yes, make sure you drain out the excess. If you leave it in there it will be heavy and weigh your tree down. Also, it could make your ornament dry weird.

How long does it take to dry? I set mine out to dry for a day. I definitely recommend leaving it untouched for 24-48 hours. The longer the better.

If you try it, make sure you tag me!

Until next time,

Christina
