Lettering Basics - Blending

Hey letterers! I know some of you who follow us are new to this whole lettering thing. I am here to show you a basic/easy way to blend your Tombow Dual Brush Pens. Remember, the more you practice, the better you get!

Materials:

Marker Paper! (This is so important as you will not want your markers to fray.)

Two Tombow Dual Brush Pens of Your Choice. (In my case I used No. 373 and No. 685)

Tombow Blending Brush Pen N00

Step One - Write out the word of your choice

Have you ever just had a "word fart" or "brain fart" where you can't find a fun word to letter? Happens to me alllll the time. Google has become my best friend. I google "unique words" or "fun words" and it usually pulls up words I haven't heard before with their definitions. In this case, I found the word "meraki" [may-rah-kee]. "This is a word that modern Greeks often use to describe doing something with soul, creativity, or love -- when you put 'something of yourself' into what you're doing, whatever it may be." This word really stood out to me and I just HAD to letter it!

Step Two - Add a little dash of color to the top of each letter.

Step Three - Grab your Blending Brush Pen and blend the two colors together.

You do not need to press hard to get this blending effect. Then admire your awesome work!
